Warburton Film Festival
Grab a blanket, grab a friend, and settle in for one of Australia's longest-running community film festivals. The 41st annual Warburton Film Festival rolls into Arts Centre Warburton from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 June 2026, serving up a weekend of handpicked cinema from around the world. Run by the Yarra Ranges Film Society, this is three days of proper film culture in the heart of the valley.

The festival screens seven curated films across the weekend, spanning a mix of genres and countries. Opening night kicks off at 7:30 PM on Friday, with Saturday packed with four screening sessions from 10:00 AM through to 6:15 PM. Sunday wraps things up with morning and afternoon sessions. The full film program is announced closer to the date — half the fun is seeing what the YRFS programmers have unearthed.
The popular “Show Us Your Shorts” competition returns, showcasing work from emerging filmmakers. Running since 2008, it’s become a highlight in its own right, with Sunday’s program featuring a retrospective of past short film entries. Saturday evening brings the Festival Dinner at 8:30 PM — a chance to pull up a chair, swap opinions on the day’s screenings, and enjoy a meal with fellow film lovers. It’s the kind of event where strangers become friends over a shared love of cinema.
