Maroondah Reservoir Park

A gentle start through fern-lined paths beside the old reservoir. The main loop is ideal for families, while a side track climbs to a lookout with sweeping valley views. Bird-watchers love the early-morning chorus of lyrebirds echoing off the water.

Mount Donna Buang Summit

The signature challenge of the Yarra Ranges. The trail rises through towering mountain ash before breaking into sub-alpine scrub near the summit. On a clear day the panorama stretches from Melbourne's skyline to the Baw Baw plateau. Snow dusts the peak in winter.
