Immersive Experience
Step into the Daintree with Gondwana VR
An immersive and interactive virtual-reality experience exploring the Daintree Rainforest.
Regional events and experiences worth planning around while you base yourself in Warburton.
You don’t need a plane ticket to reach the Daintree. You just need to make your way over to Lilydale.
The Yarra Ranges Regional Museum is hosting Gondwana VR, an immersive and interactive virtual-reality experience. It’s a chance to step inside the Daintree Rainforest, exploring the ancient textures and deep greens of one of the most iconic landscapes in the country, all through a headset.
It is a bit of a mental shift from our own backyard. While we have our own rainforests and trails starting at our doorstep here in the valley, this is a different kind of exploration. It’s digital, it’s interactive, and it brings a world away right to the Yarra Ranges.
The experience is running from mid-July through to the start of November. Specifically, you can catch it between 15 July 2026 and 1 November 2026. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon if you’re looking for something that blends local history and regional culture with modern technology.
There is no need to book a spot in advance, and the best part is that it’s free. You can simply drop in and see what the Daintree looks like from the inside out.
If you want to keep an eye on the museum for updates or more local happenings, you can find them on Facebook at the Yarra Ranges Regional Museum page.
It’s a rare chance to see a different side of the natural world without leaving the suburbs of the valley.
